Neat PS serves as an excellent electrical insulator. Static electricity is easily generated by friction, resulting in dust adsorption or damage to precision components. Conductive / antistatic modification forms conductive networks within PS matrix by compounding conductive fillers such as carbon black and carbon nanotubes or permanent antistatic agents. Conductive modification (e.g. super‑conductive carbon black addition) greatly reduces volume resistivity and delivers permanent and stable conductive performance. For antistatic modification, surface resistivity is normally adjusted within the range of 10⁹‑10¹¹ Ω, which enables fast static‑charge dissipation without short‑circuit risks caused by excessive conductivity.

Main Applications

Conductive PS is mainly used for trays and turnover boxes for electronic components, as well as anti‑static packaging for electronic products, protecting sensitive parts from electrostatic‑discharge damage. Antistatic PS is widely adopted for clean‑room equipment, anti‑static vacuum‑cleaner components, office‑equipment housings and medical‑device shells to mitigate dust adsorption and guarantee safe equipment operation.
